Quick Writes: Math Journals

I recently created a new Bellwork activity for my classroom to incorporate writing about mathematics topics quickly. This activity helps students build writing stamina in Math class. Included in each grade level set are 180 prompts for 36 weeks of NO PREP Bellwork. These could also be used as exit slips if you rather have students reflect on math topics at the end of the class period. Getting students to write mathematically can be challenging, but if you make them practice every day you will find that they will be able to write and speak mathematically more easily! These journals are helpful for my classroom and I hope they work in yours too.

              
This Quick Writes Math Journal is for students to practice quickly how to write mathematically about related math topics. This packet is full of 36 weeks of daily Bellwork Math Journal prompts for students to write about. Students will learn how to express themselves in mathematical words and extend their understandings of related math topics. Students will be engaged and be proud of their achievements in writing math. This is a NO PREP journal that can be a success in your classroom too year after year!
