New Product: Inverse Variation Activity & Assessments

Today I posted a new Common Core Lesson Plan on Teachers Pay Teachers titled "Inverse Variation". I created this lesson to help my students learn the difference between direct variation and inverse variation. Without fail every year my students struggle with these two and telling the difference between both. I use this activity and the direct variation activity to show my students the difference between them. This worked for me and I'm sharing it with you on TPT! I hope this is a helpful activity for your students too.

This lesson unit is intended to help you assess how well students are able to model linear relationships between two quantities, graph proportional relationships, recognize and represent inverse variations, identify the constant of proportionality, and represent the inverse variation with an equation.

Included in this lesson are:

-one formative assessment (pre-test) task

-card sort activity with concept development of inverse variation

-one extension activity for students to deepen their conception of inverse variation

-one summative assessment (post-test) task

-answer keys for all the assessments and activities

-how the lesson is tied to common core and mathematical practices
